Lions Road Closed

More news from Scenic Rim in the Beaudesert area: Scenic Rim’s famous tourist drive, Lions Road, is currently closed.

During yesterday’s visit to a property south of Beaudesert for a horse float weight check, I noticed a sign on the Mount Lindsay Highway suggesting that the famous scenic road, Lions Road, is closed. I could not verify exactly where the road is closed, but Kyogle news service, Echo, suggests it is closed from Standsfields Bridge to the Queensland border. It is possible that the Lions Road north of the Queensland border is open, but I could not get this verified after chatting with locals.

Lions Road is a favourite tourist drive for caravanners and campers. Some campgrounds along the route may be inaccessible right now. Especially on the New South Wales side of Lions Road.

According to Echo, the border has been closed to through traffic since February 17th and was anticipated to be open in June 2025. The report also stated that the closure could be extended right up until December 2025.

The livetraffic.com website shows the current status as “Closed every day” until 25 December 2025.

The road closure of this popular scenic drive is due to storm damage.
